Why I Love Jodi Sta. Maria

DSC_7315Let’s get showbiz for now. I got a copy of Celebrity Mom’s October 2014 issue and the cover celebrity was the (P&P) petite and pretty Jodi Sta. Maria. I’ve been her fan since I was a teener. I first noticed her on “Tabing Ilog” and found her as very apt to her character back then. She was the best friend of everyone and with her seemingly natural sad eyes, I always empathized with her character whenever she cried.

Reading about her made me love her more. I was actually wondering why she became a single mom. I thought she doesn’t deserve being alone and that she needs a man who will love her and be proud of her. But then again, as I finished reading the article, I realized, this girl can fully stand on her own, and it was the man’s loss that he separated from a girl who was as wonderful as Jodi.

Grounded

One thing I learned from her feature is that Jodi is very grounded. Despite her fame, she still prefers to be at home with her son instead of going to celebrity functions and it breaks her heart to be away from home. She also mentions about always telling her son that “not all that glitters is gold”. This way, she raises her son to be just like her, grounded.

In this world when almost everyone seeks public acceptance, it’s difficult to keep your words about being not so fond of the limelight. But I think Jodi is one good example when it comes to this. I don’t say that I am always able to follow the hottest celebrity news but I haven’t seen her face often on the glitzy glamor events pages. I imagine her perfectly as being at home or somewhere outdoors playing under the sun with her kid.

Godly

I found out that Jodi is a very Godly person. With the way she answers the questions, she always include positive words such as “love, value, and God”. I wonder what her religion is. As a single parent, I am certain that she gets her strength and confidence from her faith and the love of people around her. And I am glad that she has that kind of support.

Motherhood

Jodi is my best example when it comes to motherhood because she teaches her child through examples. She is currently an Ambassador of the World Health Organization helping people in remote areas, being with them and educating them. I wonder if I can do that myself if I am in her position. I think organizing events for my co-bloggers which is the farthest I’ve done so far (if you can consider that as a social act) can’t be compared to what Jodi has been able to do for the community.

Lessons Learned

With all the qualities of Jodi that I mentioned, Jodi seemed to be a perfect woman and mother. But of course, nobody is perfect in this world. But what’s different in her for me is that she knows her purpose and what she needs to focus on in her life. In my case, I am a mom who works at home full time and manages a family full time too. But I’m also a wife, a blogger, a friend, and involved with so many more things that I do enjoy. How can I be hands-on with all these?

Simple. Accept them as they come. This is what Jodi did when she was going through her separation with her ex-husband Pampi Lacson. She said that “being a parent didn’t stop even when her world was crumbling down”. In my case, the world seems to crumble down when all these responsibilities loom in, when you experience several challenges all at once, when not all my expectations happen. All these happen in reality and what we can really do is to stay strong for these challenges and be able to handle pressure with grace ( just like what has been mentioned in the article about traits of a classy woman according to Jodi).
