My Circle of Trust – My Trustworthy Source of Safe and Smart Parenting Advices

What’s a circle of trust (COT)? For me, it’s that invisible spot in your heart where you put the names of the persons who make you feel comfortable when you ask something that troubles you when it comes to parenting.

It’s not that easy to have a circle of trust. For someone like me who works online at least 80% of the day, I read a lot of information daily and this information overload can be confusing sometimes. So what do I do? I rely on history. For me to trust someone, a person, a product, a reading material or a website, I have to do a background check first. He, she, or it has to have that solid background of honesty AND concern for children.

For example, my pediatrician and my OB are in my circle of trust. They have been my mentors all these years when it comes to my family’s health. My in-laws have the same pedia and OB and they have been taking care of us since our babies were born. That’s the kind of relationship I really value, most especially when it comes to health care.

When it comes to parenting advices, I trust those who really understand kids. I mean, not even all of my friends and relatives are included in my circle of trust when it comes to parenting. My COT has to know me and my kids personally, and that they, too, have parenting experience and values that are based on Christian teachings.

What about products or brands? Trusting brands can be confusing especially when you read a lot of press releases. When it comes to that, I rely on the feedback of the persons inside my circle of trust, our personal history in using the products, and lastly, I also look after how the company that produces the brand values its consumers.

My best example will be Wilkins Distilled Water. Our pediatrician has been recommending this ever since my kids were very young. For one, it is free from impurities, which makes me feel “kampante” whenever they drink milk, juice or just water to hydrate. The distillation process involves further steps to purify the water, making it safe enough for consumption of all ages. Wilkins also follows the highest standards when it comes to packaging. It’s easy to see on the quality of the bottles they use, and how crystal clear the water is inside it.

Caring for kids is a delicate matter that you have to make sure that whatever you give them is 100% safe. That’s why I appreciate that Wilkins has its own Facebook page (Wilkins Distilled Drinking Water), which is filled up with informative materials and topics to help parents be assured of the safety of their drinking water.

How about you? How do you choose the people and the products you include on your Circle of Trust?
