If there’s something that we all agree and enjoy within our family, it’s music. As they say, “music is the universal language of man” and I am glad that despite the generation gap, we still enjoy each others’ types of music. But how can you enjoy good music without good music player, speakers and headphones? Talking about headphones, my daughters and I share these a lot, not only because the kids use their ipads a lot this vacation, but because I also use them when I work. A good quality headphone is a must for a work at home mom like me.

When I got invited to A. Refinery’s opening in UP Town Center this April 23, I made sure that I attend because it was my chance to check some new options for headphones and speakers at home. A. Refinery is a new music concept store by Audio Refinery Inc. Keeping in line with the company’s mission which is See, Hear, Experience, A. Refinery will be the home of iconic brands like German headphone Beyerdynamic, Chord Electronics Ltd. and Q Acoustics. The store also displays non-audio brands such as Booq Cases, Lineaflux Hyperchargers, and Control 4. They also have LED TVs, home theatre systems, and even digital lighting system which can be controlled even if you are not at home, if I’ve heard it correctly during the short program.

The grand launching was a whole day event. It started with a simple blessing by a priest, ribbon cutting by some of the staff, introduction of what they have in store, and then they gave prizes for lucky attendees. They raffled out a Harman Kardon Esquire speaker and had a limited sale of 30% off for selected brands.

JBL Pulse is a mobile speaker which has its own light show. It is splash-proof which means its ok for it to get wet (under the rain or when you use it beside the pool). It was so cool because it has the capability to imitate the colors of its surroundings.
These JBL portable speakers are so handy you can carry that big one like a bag.
I almost got myself a new headphone that day, though it’s not me to buy something out of impulse, specially when it comes to gadgets or techie accessories. But I’ll surely be coming back to A.Refinery to buy one when I’ve decided.
Trying a Beyerdynamic headphone – I liked it, it is light, I love the big and soft earpads, the sound cancellation, and the bass. It costs around more than P3,000 but I think the price is just right.
Tried the JBL headphone, I liked the color (shiny red), it fits my ears, and the sound is crisp.
At present, A. Refinery has confirmed two additional store locations in the Philippines slated to hold their own grand opening later this year, A. Refinery Ayala Center Cebu and A. Refinery Abreeza Mall Davao.
A. Refinery UP Town Center will be open seven days a week from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Sundays thru Thursdays, and 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.
