Dark chocolate lava cake – good for period cramps

This Sunday, I tried this recipe for a dark chocolate lava cake for my youngest who is having pains because of her period cramps. It’s really useful to have this jar full of chocolate chips, particularly dark ones as they are healthier than regular chocolate chips.

I also crave chocolates when I have my period but eating too much sweet is not healthy at all. When I bake, at least I can control the ingredients or the size of the cake.

Dark chocolate is better than regular milk chocolates when you have your period because it:

🍫 lessens the pain
🍫 lightens the mood
🍫 boosts energy

So I tried to make this quick, eggless dark chocolate lava cake, done in less than 15 minutes.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup dark chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder

Yield : 3-4 large ramekins

How to make

  1. Melt butter with chocolate chips in the microwave, medium heat for about 2-3 minutes
  2. Add the milk and mix together
  3. Add flour, powdered sugar, and cocoa powder and mix together until fully blended.
  4. Grease 3-4 ramekins and add the chocolate mixture.
  5. Bake for 12-15 minutes with only the lower portion of the oven set on heat. Use the toothpick test to know if the cake is done. Don’t overbake as the cake will dry up.

Mariel finished half of it in a whoosh while I prefer eating the other half with whipped cream 🥰 Lava cakes are also perfect to go with milk or if you vanilla ice cream in your fridge.
