Apple Mummy Pies

I just love Halloween, not because of what this festivity originally celebrates, but simply because of the memories it brings to me when I was a child and the excitement of little kids who want to wear costumes and do trick or treating. I’m just a kid at heart forever.

And it gives me an excuse to make creepy but cute pies like these apple mummy pies. I discovered a new brand of apple pie filling in our local grocery store and I am just thrilled of how good it tastes and how easy I can just fill it inside these puff pastries.

So to make these cute creepy mummies:

You will need the following:

1/2 block of 500g puff pastry
1/4 can of DLA Naturals Apple Filling
2 tbsp brown sugar
1 egg beaten for egg wash
meringue eyes you can buy from bake stores ( I bough these from All About Baking)

Very simple recipe as usual 🙂

Use your rolling pin to flatten and widen the puff pastry and make 8 3×2 inches rectangles and then strips of puff pastries.

Pre heat your oven to 170C and while waiting, spread some apple filling on top of each rectangles.

Top the filling with the puff pastries strips like when you are creating or wrapping mummies.

Brush with egg wash and then sprinkle with brown sugar.

Voila!

Bake for at least 10 minutes or when all brown and crispy. Put the meringue eyes for the finish touch.

How good these apple mummy pies smell and the aroma just filled up the house. Because it’s midterm break, my eldest is at home and my youngest is at home as well because she has her scheduled online school.

Mom and Dad are happy to have the girls at home because these days, they are so busy at school, we can hardly talk to each other.

What are your plans this coming Halloween 2022? How do you make up and bond with your kids now that face-to-face classes are on?
