Dieting – one task that can be easy to say but so difficult to do. I know for sure that I am not overstating that because in my 10 years of being a mother, maintaining a fit body through proper diet has been one tough job not because I eat so much but mainly because I don’t watch what I eat.
I don’t blame anyone or anything but I just to have acknowledge the fact that I need help when it comes to dieting. Maybe someone professional enough who can count the calories for me.
Last week, I had an opportunity to try a one-full-day set meal from The Good Box which is a delivery service business catering to everyone who wants to eat organic food deliciously prepared and delivered to their doorsteps daily. The Good Box has ( 6) different calorie menus for everyday of the week: 1200, 1500, 1800, 2100, 2400 and 2700 calories where customers can choose from depending on their needs, whether to slim down or to gain weight. There will be 5 meals daily (breakfast, AM snack, lunch, afternoon snack, dinner) all prepared and delivered a day before to be heated and consumed for one day.
What’s exciting about The Good Box for me personally is that they allow you to taste different kinds of food which you may not be able to prepare personally, (1) because it will be expensive to do so (2) you don’t know how to cook these kinds of meals (3) you don’t have the time and equipments. The Good Box also mentions that their ingredients come from Gawad Kalinga’s ‘Enchanted Farm’ which means you help our local farmers when you buy these organic products.
All meals are delivered in, take note, “biodegradable containers” which means they are both safe to use and to dispose. They also offer Special Meal Programs: South Beach DIet, Diabetic Diet, Hypertensive Diet and Pregnant-Diabetic Diet Programs. The best thing to do to know what the appropriate diet for you is to fill up their Nutrition and Lifestyle form and their nutritionist will send you suggestions for the perfect program that you should be following.
For my sample meal, I was given a packed set meal which contains 1,200 kcalories. I checked the Calorie Requirement Chart from their website and found out that it was the maximum calorie intake count for a 7 year old female with sedentary lifestyle. I am sedentary 37 year old and my maximum kcal count should be 1,800 so that means I am still allowed to eat something with 600 kcal. Nice one for a food allowance! Check my photos here and they all have their counted calories.
1,200 kcal definitely made me hungry in between, I admit it but I was happy that my food allowance which I used up by eating a banana, apple and some biscuits made up for my hunger which means I can live with a recommended 1,800 calorie meal intake for a day. That’s good news for me. To think that I barely notice being hungry except from the times when I forgot that I still have an allowed calorie intake. Their salad was fresh, the chicken was tender and that banana drink (not so much tasty looking in photo) actually tasted sooo good.
From their Price List. a 1,200 kcal meal (5 meals for 5 days) amounts to P2,750. Compute it out, you’ll be paying P110 per meal. Not bad at all! A sweet slush outside already costs P125 🙂 I just wish that they will have this 1 day program if I just want to choose 1 day in a week.
Verdict: The Good Box makes dieting easy by doing that hard part of counting calories and lets you enjoy the day without worrying what you will eat, what your food will taste like, and how fat you will be after meal.

This is actually heaven sent to working moms! I’d love to eat healthy food during lunch at work but most of the food available in the canteen are calorie laden!
Thanks Jhanis. I so agree!!!
Oh my, this is amazing! The Good Food Box program is much different where I am. I wish we had this option, it’s such a great way to enable busy people to eat well! Much better than microwave meals from the grocery store.
That sounds like a really great program and a great alternative to some of the others out there. I try to watch what I eat and eat healthy, but sometimes it is easier to take the junk food option and run.
Great program! I love the varieties they have to offer and that everything is portioned out. That Morrocan Spiced Chicken sounds yummy!
Amazing program. I am still battling eating healthy 3 years post heart attack. This would make things so much easier. Everything looks so yummy.
The food from the Good Box looks really good!
I hate dieting! I like to eat what i want to eat! I try but it never tastes as good as the bad stuff..
What a great idea – takes all the guesswork out of it!
It’s a great idea. I do like to cook though. It might be great for those times you are really busy.
This is a great way to loose weight! I am not a fan of having to figure out how many calories are in everything I eat so this would take a load off!
Love that these are organic and healthy…and convenient! Win/win!
The pumpkin salad sounds tasty. I love meal subscriptions like this because it is true – you get to try foods and meals you normally wouldn’t cook yourself.
This is a great program! I love meal subscriptions plus if I’m spending the money to subscribe to it I’m going to defiantly stick with it!
I’ve never heard of this, but it sounds awesome! I hate counting calories… and I’m not the best at making organic meals. I’ll have to look into this!
That’s great that you’re able to meet the calorie count easily. Sounds great to me!
I don’t mean any offense by this, but just because there’s a maximum calorie count, doesn’t mean you should or have to eat the remaining 600 calories. That said, I’m a firm believer in eating whatever you want so long as you are happy and maintain your health properly and safely. Thanks for highlighting this service!
So this is kind of like nutrisystem in America correct? Very neat option to have!
I’m not a fan of dieting, but these are some great tips!
