Attending Brotzeit Kinder Koche kiddie baking class was definitely one of the highlights of our summer vacation. It was our first time to attend a workshop like this where me and my kids had a great time learning how to bake. I’m a frustrated baker myself and even if I had planned a thousand times on enrolling to a baking school just to learn basic baking skills, I still wasn’t able to do so. So this workshop is a win-win for the whole family.
Kinder Koche (German for little chef) is brought by Brotzeit Philippines, a restaurant just outside Shangri-la Mall and it offers world-famous German beers and authentic Bavarian Cuisine. This workshop was actually part 2 already of their Kinder Koche program which if I am not mistaken started last year.
Before we got to Brotzeit, I was thinking why cooking class for kids when it seems that the restaurant is for German beer drinkers. But when we got to the place, I realized, why not? The restaurant has a comfortable space, perfect tables to set up the baking workshop, the class was scheduled just after lunch when the place has minimal guests. The workshop teacher was Chef Ivan Maminta who was the culinary director of Brotzeit and we were actually baking something which was part of the restaurant’s daily menu, their delicious Schokokuchen (chocolate cake with some sugar on top).
Here are some of our photos taken during the workshop. At the end are some of the actual videos taken by daddy who truly supports his daughters when it comes to learning.
I’m also sharing the Schokokuchen, Apple Lemon Fizz and Cardinal Punch recipes SOON so watch out for these!
Check out this quick video!
Other Activities and Certificates
Aside from baking and mixing refreshing drinks, the kids also got to make cool finger print designs! Then come the issuance of certificate of completion with photo op with Chef Ivan. Wasn’t it fun!
Brotzeit permitted me to post the recipes for Schokokuchen, Apple Lemon Fizz and Cardinal Punch.
Will be sharing it soon so make sure to visit again soon!
Kinder Koche 2 will still be having classes this coming May!
Make sure to visit their Brotzeit Philippines Facebook page
and see how you can join their upcoming workshops for making Fladen (Pizza) on May 16,
and finally, Apfelstrudel (Apple Strudel), on May 23!
This is nice! I’ve been looking for a summer activity for Kyle to be productive. How much is it, Mommy Lani?
Hi Vance, 1 course costs P1,500 which includes the kitchen tools, shirt and apron for the parent/guardian.
Kids are so lucky these days that they get to have a lot of activities to choose from.
we usually just drink here! hahaha nice to know i can bring the kiddies along now 🙂
Looks like plenty of fun and a great activity for you and the kids!
Our kids nowadays are so lucky they experienced such workshops like this. Glad that the sisters enjoyed it much. 🙂
The shokokuchen looks so much like the guiltless cake video I saw just today. I also see it a lot done in MasterChef, I just forgot what it’s called. Looking forward to the recipes!
Looks like a fun activty/workshop for kids 🙂
Great summer activity for the kids, with the very supportive parents! 🙂
Amazing. I’m no good in the kitchen myself so this one’s really a frustration. And I would be sure to enroll myself, erm I mean the daughter – or maybe both? – in a baking/cooking class in the future.
My daughter and I share the love for cooking. This is a good way to reinforce that bond.
Wow! I might consider enrolling my kids to similar activities in the future. 🙂
