Do you love to receive greeting cards? I know a lot of people who don’t. Some think that instead of sending a greeting card, why not send a whole letter and just decorate it and make it more personalized? Some say it’s just a waste of paper, money and they will just add up to the clutter at home after reading them.
Imagine you are the greeting card to whom you say these words too. I can feel the sadness of that greeting card, diba?
For me, contrary to what other people say, greeting cards still have their charms and they do say a lot about the giver. To write a few, here are some of the things I think about people who send me beautiful greeting cards, like the ones from Hallmark.
1. that person cares a lot – it makes me feel more special thinking that the person actually did spend some time in the store to find one that I will like
2. that person thinks more of me – when you send a greeting card, you also make an effort to think about the person, the fun times you had, and that he/she is thinking of more times to be with you.
3. that person wants me to think of them for a long time – when a person gives you a greeting card, he/she assumes that you will keep it for a long time and not throw it to thrash. It means that the person doesn’t want to be forgotten.
4. that person sympathizes with me – when a person gives out a greeting card on any occasion, I feel that he/she wants to tell me that he understands how I feel at the moment. I may be sad or I may be happy, but the greeting card is the best way to feel that I am not alone and someone is thinking of me that moment
5. that person wants to send a piece of himself – what’s so special with greeting cards is that the giver has the opportunity to send a piece of himself through his/her handwriting. They might not have the best handwriting but as I read the cards and the notes they wrote, I could imagine their hands and their faces as they write and tell their feelings.
Who would have thought a simple greeting card can do these much, right? How happier can it be for us to think that we can even send a greeting card every day of the year if we will just wish and do it.
There will be a dozen more holidays and 300 plus days to send a greeting card. When will you be sending yours and to whom?
I love this, I didn’t realize such a small gesture could say so much! Thanks so much for sharing this with all of us!
I think I was a real sentimental kid…giving and writing Christmas cards was just as important as any gift to me and I did it for a long time even through snail mail! As an adult I’ve stopped, but do still love receiving a handwritten note, even if it’s short. It’s just that much more personal 🙂
I guess no one mind receiving chocolates along with the greeting cards! I love receiving greeting card with your loved ones. Thanks for sharing this beautiful write up with us
I think Handwritten letters is more special. Because I think giving letters are very sincere and you really poured some efforts on it.
Each time, when I need to write something on the card, I’m looking for some inspirations. Thanks for your tips!
I grew up in a house where giving gift cards was the norm. I still send one to my mom during the holidays and on her birthday too.
That’s so sweet, you are so blessed to have those in your family.
greeting cards are such a lovely gesture its honestly the small things that make such a big impact.
I remember back in my high school days. It was really sweet to receive letters even though it was just written in a piece of paper that was pluck in the back of his or her notebook. Haha. It’s the message that matters.
I like greeting cards and letters as well because why not. I think spending time on finding things that they think it might not happen but it, that’s makes it a special.
Brings back memories of greeting cards that we used to exchange at school. Greeting cards are a lost art now, I guess
This is absolutely true! My mom made me give handmade cards to everyone as a child and I see the value to that after growing up.
Greeting cards are so special to me. Love this post. Thanks for sharing.
