It was my first time to join NBS Grand Warehouse Sale in Mandaluyong. If you have been following NBS’ sale events, their warehouse used to be in QC. But the building has now become NBS College. Though the warehouse is already located further from our place, I made sure not to miss the first day of the sale. Why? Because I know how great NBS sale events are. When they say 60-80% of the items will be on sale, you can be sure that everything you’ll find in the warehouse is marked down as such.
I came early on the first day of sale. In fact, I was too early that the warehouse wasn’t open yet. As early as 8AM(sale would be 10AM) there were already people lined up outside the warehouse. I just had coffee and pancakes in the nearby McDonald’s across the street.
NBS allows only 1000 people inside the warehouse, at a time. When a number of people are done shopping, they let newcomers go in. So make sure to come early.
When I came inside the warehouse, there were tables and pallets full of books, novelty items, party supplies, school supplies, offices supplies, and books! The place is a real warehouse so manage your expectations. It looks like a typical warehouse cleaned up and set up for a sale. There were many items that were also still in boxes although they were already pre-sorted. You don’t need to dig up to find what you are looking for.
To help you with your shopping, here are some useful tips:
- Everyone knows it but still, be there in line as early as you can if you really want to see fresh stocks.
- Wear comfortable clothes and shoes and use bags where you can put your wallet safely in front of you.
- Don’t manage to bring fan in there as you won’t have time to use it. Just shower first before you go to the warehouse so you’ll feel fresh even until late afternoon.
- Keep the things you want to buy in your mind and as soon as you see one, grab it and just put it in your basket because you won’t be able to return back in case you change your mind.
- Have a budget and stick to it. It will be so easy to go over the budget on sales like this one because you will find things that you are going to be tempted to buy things that were not planned.
- If you have particular things on your mind, you can already ask the warehouse staff where you can find them and go to those areas directly. Or else, you’ll be sideswept to tables where you’ll possibly lose your budget.
- Bring shopping bags because the paper bags that NBS provide are not sturdy. The NBS shopping bags aren’t free so if you don’t want to pay for them, just bring your own.
- Bring bottled water to hydrate you especially during late afternoon.
- Biggest deals are those with red stickers – 80% and I found some great deals in the electronic items : flash disks, electronic mouse, flashlights and then in books! There are plenty of children’s books that are on sale (Dork Diaries, Disney books, pop up books, coloring and activity books) There were also reams and reams of sticker plastic covers which I wasn’t able to buy because I don’t think I could carry them.
- If you will bring your own car, better but make sure to arrive early as there’s limited parking. Or you can also park in front of McDonald’s but for a limited time also.

When you have companions who don’t want to go inside the warehouse, they can refresh and wait for you at Books & Beans cafe and restaurant.
I wasn’t able to use the comfort room but they have one so you can relieve yourself if needed.
