It was my long-time wish to go to The Dessert Museum. Though I’ve seen so many posts about the museum and heard about how the backdrops are already overexposed in social media, I cared less because I thought, the photos we will be taking there will be OUR photos, not for any body else. I may be sharing some to my friends and of course in this blog, but it doesn’t mean that they will lose their value once the public has seen it. They will still be ours and will be precious memories that my family will cherish for a long time.
Our timing was perfect because it was a long-weekend break. I also got discount voucher from Klook so I was able to buy 4 tickets for the price of 3.
We chose a 3:30pm slot as we still had to check-in at Conrad Hotel which is just above S’maison Mall where The Dessert Museum is located. We thought it was the perfect time. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to consider that many people will be thinking the same. And so when we got on The Dessert Museum, a lot of people were already in line.
Nevertheless, we did not let this sway our moods. We just entered the museum and enjoyed each room, smiled and posed gamely, and so we got lots of pretty photos together.
Before we enter the premises, we were given “passports” so we can get dessert treats if we want to. In fairness, the treats were not cheap. They were all delectable though we hardly ate because we we were in a hurry to get our spots where we would take our photos.
Our favorite treats were the frozen bananas coated with chocolate inside the “banana room”. Ang sarap!
I also got some cake pops and unicorn cookies. I was able to taste the cake pops and they tasted perfect, chocolate cake inside and coated with white chocolate though they were colored differently on the outside.
Each room has its own theme and the backgrounds were mostly in pastel colors. I love the accessories they have there which helped a lot in posing. Sometimes, it’s difficult to just pose and make faces. The hanging donuts, marshmallows stuck on the walls, etcetera made the rooms interactive and gave us ideas on how to make cute poses.
The lighting was not that perfect though in all rooms. There are rooms with lots of shadows where you can’t have too much option especially when there are lots of people in the room. It will be time consuming to find that perfect spots in the room so you just have to make do with the lighting you have.
At the end of our tour, we found a room full of souvenirs – tons of candies, gummies and sourballs, ref magnets, earrings, keychains, tumblers, pillows and stuff toys shaped like real cupcakes and other kinds of sweets. I was impressed with their collection! I got my eldest a pair of donut earrings for our souvenir.
Overall, we enjoyed our first visit to The Dessert Museum. As a mom, I enjoyed it so much not only because we now have more beautiful photos together but also because we enjoyed the whole experience together. We were laughing, smiling and posing the whole time. Those moments were precious to me, seeing my husband and my daughters enjoy each others’ company.
Before I end this post, here are some tips if you are planning to visit The Dessert Museum
- Buy cheaper tickets from Klook.
- Plan your visit and if possible, don’t choose holidays. If you don’t have any choice, then brace yourself. In fairness though, the museum tries to limit the number of guests per batches.
- Wear clothes that can complement pastel. I wore plain black because it’s the only color I can wear to look slimmer in
photo . - Bring an extra bag for your treats so you can bring them home in case you aren’t able to eat them while on tour. Sayang,
masarap ang mga treatsnila . - Bring your own water bottle.
- Empty your cameras/cellphones and have them fully charged before going to the museum.
- If you are using a DLSR and you have to let the in-house photographers use your camera to take your group photos, check your camera from time to time as sometimes, they may accidentally change the settings. It happened to us and fortunately, my husband was able to see the difference right away or else, all our photos would be blurred.
- Take as many photos as you want, and use all the spots you can see. The tickets are quite expensive so make the most of it.
Hope you like my post. Let me know once you visit the museum and share your story!
