First trips, although not always the best, are always memorable. Our first trip to Singapore was a thrilling one because our girls are older and easier to travel with and we’ve got extra pair of hands to help us with the bits and pieces of traveling must-do’s. In every trip we go to, it usually takes us at least six months or almost a year of waiting because I usually buy seat sales and I wait for ticket sales being sold in advance. But all the waiting makes the trip more exciting, and when we get there, it always feels like a huge accomplishment.
First Day – Singapore Airport ( Changi Airport – Jewel)
We’ve read again and again that Singapore Airport is the best airport in the world and when we got there, I saw the reason why. The airport was huge and very modern. However, as we have limited time, we only got to one part which was in Terminal 1, the Arrival Hall connected to Jewel.
Despite our excitement we decided to take a rest in the hotel where we booked. We booked at Changi Village Hotel which was only about 15 minutes ride. The hotel provides a free shuttle back and forth to the airport and one of the reasons why I booked there. I’ll make a separate review of hotel in this blog.
After a couple of hours of sleep, we went back to the airport and headed straight to Jewel Changi. It was a great experience and until these days, I wish to travel back to Singapore just because I feel that we missed a lot in Jewel Changi.
Second Day – Singapore Zoo/ Madamme Tussauds / Gardens By The Bay
I still couldn’t help feeling amazed at how we were able to visit three places in Singapore in one day. Maybe we had a surge of adrenaline!
Singapore Zoo is a beautiful zoo, it was huge, very clean and the animals were all healthy and magnificent. I really wish we have this kind of zoo in the Philippines. When we got there, we saw some unfinished structures which seem that the zoo is still expanding. There were lots of restaurants inside the zoo and the food was amazing.
After going to the zoo, we headed straight to Madame Tussauds in the late afternoon. We had fun taking photos with the celebrity wax statues we know of and there was also a Marvel 4D experience show included in our pass.
Before going back to the hotel, we’ve managed to pass by Gardens By The Bay which was actually not in our itinerary. Thanks to the Grab driver who decided to drive us using another street just because he knew we are tourists, we were able to pass through Gardens By the Bay. We did not go inside the flower dome but we passed by a beautiful garden path where we got lots of photos before we were able to reach Marina Bay, the famous mall in Singapore, where we ordered some food before we headed back to the hotel.
Third Day – Universal Studios
One of our dream come trues. We’ve always wanted to see this theme park because of Minions and Transformers and Shrek and many more. My kids were able to ride the famous The Mummy extreme ride and we were able to try The Jurassic Park rides. We were also able to watch The Amazing Spiderman 3D ride and much more. We took tons of photos that day!
Our trip to Singapore was this January 2020 before the COVID 19 broke out. We were just fortunate that we were able to go out of the country before the pandemic happened as we had lots of good memories that we talk about over and over and which in a way help us battle the sadness for not being able to move around for a long time.
More about our Singapore trip per day of our visit in this blog soon!

I would have literally done every single thing you did. To start with, the airport is amazingly beautiful! Then I have heard the zoo is the best in the world. I have enjoyed virtual tours that they produced. The gardens are amazing and a family favorite. And Universal Studios looks so fun! I am glad you got to go before Coronavirus hit!
It is a land I can’t wait to explore and I hope soon when the pandemic is over. There is so much to explore here. – Paolo
