To brighten my mood today, I played a bit in the kitchen this afternoon and tried this apple rose tartlets that I have always planned to make 🍎
They turned out yummy, merienda with coffee and because they have cinnamon (my favorite spice) kaya they were perfect. And I think they looked pretty. I’ll make some again using mangoes or maybe some peaches.
Don’t be fooled though on how pretty these pastries are because I bet you can easily make them yourselves. Here’s how.
Ingredients:
1/2 pack 400g store-bought puff pastry dough
2 medium-sized apples
mandolin slicer or if you will be able to slice your apples thinly, then you can slice them using a knife
1/2 stick butter melted
2-3 tbsp brown sugar
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp vinegar
cupcake tray
How to make:
1. cut 1/2 inch strips of puff pastry x 3/4 ruler stick long and spread onto a clean, dry surface
2. slice your apples crosswise using mandolin slicer or cut thin slices as thin as you can with skin intact
3. cut your apple slices into halves
4. put the apple slices into a bowl and add the vinegar, sugar, melted sugar and cinnamon
5. mix together and then microwave for 2-3 minutes set on med high
6. let the apple slices cool down before arranging the slices on top of your pastry dough just like in the photo.
7. gently roll the and twist the apple slices with the pastry dough as the binder till you form a rose.
8. put your rose tartlet into the cupcake tray (make sure to spray oil so that the tartlet won’t stick when done)
9. repeat until you make at least 8 rose tartlets
10. bake for 5-10 minutes until done
What do you think of these apple tartlets?
