When I heard that IKEA opened a branch in Trinoma, I was so happy! Finally, something closer to home — no need to brave the traffic all the way to IKEA Mall of Asia. So I visited with high expectations, thinking it would be a smaller version of the big IKEA we all know and love.

But after spending some time there, I realized that IKEA Trinoma is not your usual shopping store. It’s actually a Plan & Order Shop — a place mainly for consultations, not browsing. And that makes a big difference.
IKEA Mall of Asia: The Full IKEA Experience
If you’ve ever been to IKEA Mall of Asia in Pasay, you know how massive it is. It’s currently the largest IKEA store in the world, with several floors of showrooms, furniture displays, and the famous IKEA Swedish Cafe restaurant serving Swedish meatballs and soft-serve ice cream.
There, you can easily spend hours walking through mock bedrooms, kitchens, and living rooms, taking photos, testing sofas, or pushing a big yellow cart filled with impulse buys. It’s really an experience — not just shopping.
For me, IKEA MOA is a great weekend destination. You get ideas, you eat, you explore, and you come home with something new (or at least with a mental list for your next visit).
IKEA Trinoma: Smaller, Simpler, and for Planning Only
The IKEA Trinoma Plan & Order Shop is the complete opposite. It’s a small, quiet space tucked inside Level 1 of Ayala Malls Trinoma. You won’t find a long trail of displays or big shopping carts here. Instead, you’ll see a few mini showrooms — just samples to help you visualize what you can plan or order.
The space honestly feels tight, and it can get crowded quickly. It’s not ideal if you just want to look around. I found it difficult to see the displays properly because of how compact the area is.
But to be fair, the staff are very helpful. If you have specific goals like planning a kitchen, storage space, or a wardrobe, they’ll sit down with you and walk you through design options using IKEA’s digital planning tools. It’s great if you already know what you want — not so much if you’re still exploring ideas.
IKEA MOA vs. IKEA Trinoma at a Glance
IKEA Mall of Asia is a full store — complete with large showrooms, a restaurant, and a wide product range. IKEA Trinoma, on the other hand, is mainly for planning. It’s perfect if you just want a design consultation or to pick up your online orders without going too far.
If you want the full IKEA experience — browsing, dining, and shopping — Pasay is still the place to go. But if you’re from Quezon City or nearby and need quick help designing your space, Trinoma is a practical alternative.
My Thoughts as a Mom
IKEA Trinoma is definitely more functional than fun. I’d describe it as a “mini office version” of IKEA — a place for planning and talking to design officers, not for the usual IKEA stroll.
If you live nearby and need help designing your kitchen or storage, it’s a convenient stop. But if you’re after that big, inspiring IKEA experience (and maybe a few meatballs after shopping), the Mall of Asia branch is still the place to go.
As someone who enjoys seeing and touching furniture before buying, I found the Trinoma shop too small for that kind of visit. Still, I appreciate that IKEA is expanding north — and hopefully, this is just the start of something bigger.
