Great Eats This Way – Calle Bistro Lifestyle Strip Along Commonwealth Avenue

Posted on Dec 2 2018 - 7:12pm by tweenselmom

We are frequent visitors of Ever Gotesco Mall Commonwealth since I was a teenager. When I’ve had the kids, we go to this area because we can still find many interesting shops at this mall which aren’t present inside the 3 giant malls near our home. I’ve just recently found out that there are a lot more things to do better than shopping when you go to this area – food!

I was lucky to be included in the recent Grand “Food Crawl” held by EVER Group of Companies in Calle Bistro – a new lifestyle strip along Commonwealth Avenue, just beside Ever Gotesco Mall. If you haven’t heard of a food crawl yet, it’s a fun activity where the guests are treated to a full day of food and music, hopping from one restaurant to another, to try their best selling foods.

I’ve had so much fun at the food crawl. The name Calle Bistro initially gave me an impression that it was just another food park. I was mistaken because the restaurants at Calle Bistro are stylish, comfortable, the food served were hot and presented nicely and there were so much variety in the food served in different restaurants. I plan to bring my family here soon and excited to go on date nights with my husband and my lady friends maybe some time soon.

Here are some some of the restaurants we crawled into and the food we tried (drooling allowed) 🙂

Sisig Society

Find delicious appetizers that can also serve as ulam – Tusok-Tusok Platter (an assorted platter of dynamites, chicken skin, bacon cracklings and Kikiam) Sisig Nachos, and Classic Pork Sisig. I am warning you though that when you start popping their food into your mouth, you won’t be able to stop.

ELM’s Kapihan and Winery

A coffee cum bar place that combined amazing cuisine with cozy interiors. Enjoy Pinoy crispy favorites like Chicharon Bulaklak, Pritong Hito & Burong Mustasa, Beef Kare-Kare, Pritong Native Itik, Palabok, Rib Eye Steak, plus Margaritas. Tried the margarita and it was so smooth, love it! Can’t wait to have more soon!

The restaurant serves authentic Filipino cuisine, mostly Kapampangan dishes, and a steady mix of Western cuisine as well. The Unli-Wine (yep!) is a much sought-after in this restaurant.

Ima Kitchen

A dining place that offers a wealth of modernized Filipino native cuisine and honors a grandmother’s legacy. Chef Carlo Yabut, restaurant owner, impressed us with an original menu lineup composed of Ube Bibingka Cinnamon Roll, Tortang Talong at Itlog na Maalat Ensalada, Pork Adobong Puti, Sinigang na Baka sa Ube at Pakwan, Banana-Rum Turon and Street Skewers (Pork BBQ, Chicken Isaw, Liver Betamax and Pork Walkman).

Ima Kitchen has another branch located in UST.

Adobo Connection

Revisit your love for the insanely addicting “unofficial national dish” – adobo! Their hefty servings of Adobo Flakes paired with Buko Pandan dessert is just heaven.

Macao Imperial Tea

Try their popular Instagrammable line of fancy sodas (Blue Curachao, Midsummer, Cherry Blossom, Over the Rainbow, Green Apple and Lemon Fizz) milk teas (Cream Cheese Cocoa, Cream Cheese Sea Salt Jasmine Green Tea and Original,) special drinks For Me and For You and snack bites like Kurobota Sausage, Smoked Sausage and Cheese Sausage.

Hap Chan

A long time fan of this restaurant and we’ve actually celebrated many family anniversaries and birthdays in their other branches. So glad that they have a branch now in Calle Bistro. Classic Chinese specialties are Yang Chow, Sauteed Beef with Broccoli Flower, and assorted dimsum.

Gerry’s Grill

Who doesn’t know about this popular Filipino restaurant Crispy Pata (love the cinnamon hint), Fried Chicken, Kare-Kare, Sisig and thirst-queching Watermelon Juice.

Baby Back Ribs and Chicken Wings galore at this place!

Cook the Bread

The final stop offers a fascinating array of quintessential Korean breakfast fares, coffee, teas, and all-day brunch specials. This charming cafe is the first and only branch outside its main branch in South Korea. Owner Cai Tariman presented the usual best sellers : Buttered Curry Chicken, Beef Tomato Stew, Bulgogi Rice, Pane Cream Pasta, assorted Bingsoo (Blue Raspberry, Red Bean, Snow Coffee, White Snow and Strawberry Mango) Garlic Baguette, Coffee Toast, and refreshing Four Berries Infused Tea.
