Dog Grooming After ECQ

Finally, Chewie was able to get groomed after three months of quarantine. Believe me, I tried washing him myself, tried to clean his fur a bit and lessen the smell but he is a fully grown shih tzu and is so heavy. My whole body ached the next day when I tried to give him a bath.

My worry though is that Furry Tails always likes to shave his fur totally whenever we send them there. I don’t read that much about dog grooming but isn’t there a way for them to get rid of the “buhol” or knots from his fur without shaving him totally ( as in skinny bald). Chewie looks so different when he doesn’t have his fur. I’ve read in some articles that sometimes shaving the dog’s hair isn’t that recommendable as their skin might be more exposed to irritants when they don’t have their fur. Chewie doesn’t go out so I don’t think this will be a problem. The problem is that he is not a puppy anymore and I am worried that his hair won’t grow back as nicely as when he was younger.

Anyway, you can watch this video when we brought Chewie to the pet store/salon Furry Tails. If you have a shih tzu, I’d really appreciate if you can share tips about dog grooming!
