Are You A Parent Of A KPOP Fan?

For the teen KPOP fans out there, and the parents who are having headaches how to teach or inspire their kids to MANAGE their time wisely – I feel you!

Are you a parent of KPOP fans like me?

Being a fan, not only of Korean popstars, even of other celebrities, can be fun. It’s a fact because it’s one form of entertainment and we need these to make our lives more exciting and to freshen ourselves after hours of working.

In fact, I even went to a KPOP concert one time with my kids and had absolute fun. You can read it here: The EXO EXOrdium Concert in Manila

But there are times that our kids/teens go overboard, right? They spend too much time, money and effort and this time, we parents have all the right to butt in.

Some unsolicited tips I can offer ( both for the kids and the parents) :

A. this is just a phase, pagsasawaan din nila ‘yan (hindi lang natin alam kung kailan)

B. they can get something good from it : appreciation to music, clothing style, talent

C. try to make something good out of it for yourself, don’t just be mere FANS
a. dance with the music ( form of exercise )
b. sing with them ( develop your talent for singing)
c. play their music ( learn to play the keyboard)
d. draw them ( if you are good in drawing, paint your idols)

It’s ok to be a KPOP fan as long as you get something out of it, to improve yourself or make people’s lives better

D. if you want to buy something, work for it. Buying stuff for your hobbies SHOULD NOT come out of your parent’s pockets

Now that many of us are starting to go back to our normal lives, our kids must realize that life is not getting easier BUT we can still be allowed to enjoy the things that we are passionate about AS LONG AS you EARNED them.

Don't give up on reminding and teaching teens about how to manage their time and priorities even if they are KPOP fans.

For the parents, always have an open mind about these kinds of things because we’ve been there (galing na tayo dyan). BUT be patient, don’t give up and keep on reminding them kahit pa sometimes they feel bad about us. At the end of the day, we are still the parents and we need to PARENT them.

I hope you learned a thing or two from this post. Do you have more tips for teens/kids out there? I’d love to read them.
