TRYP by Wyndham Hotel Sunset Suite + Elvis EPIC movie

This weekend, we decided to spend it watching the latest Elvis epic movie and trying a new staycation place, which turned out to be perfectly sized for the four of us.

Elvis Epic Movie

We all enjoyed the movie. Elvis Presley is still the King of Rock ’n’ Roll, and seeing him in his concert days again—presented in an enhanced cinematic way—was just wow.

IMAX Mall of ASIA cinema is gigantic, but honestly, the sound is too freakingly loud inside 🙂

I became an Elvis convert because of my husband. I wouldn’t say I’m a die-hard fan, but I still feel giddy whenever we watch him sing during his prime years. His concert outfits were spectacular, and every time I watch him perform, I’m amazed by his talent and charisma.

I’m not exactly sure how my husband feels—he’s the original fan between the two of us—but I’m grateful that we share this interest in Elvis. I can feel his happiness whenever we talk about him, and that shared joy makes it even more special for me.

TRYP Hotel Sunset Suite

We’ve tried checking in to this hotel many times before, but this was our first time booking their Sunset Suite. We usually stay in their 25 sqm room, but now that the girls are grown up, it’s harder to move around in a smaller, cramped space.

TRYP by Wyndham Hotel Sunset Suite King Bed

This suite has a king bed, a sofa, and another elevated area that also serves as a sofa. The girls occupied those spaces while hubby and I enjoyed the king bed. The room has a much bigger walking space, and there are plenty of power outlets in every corner. There are also several tables, which made it convenient for us to work.

The room has two televisions—a large 55-inch screen in front of the king bed and a smaller one in the kitchen area. There’s also a microwave, a coffee pod brewer, and a mini ref. The bathroom doesn’t have a bathtub, but it does have a bidet and a support arm for PWDs.

We also loved the huge windows where you can enjoy a wide view of the sky and the reclamation area, with the sea stretching further out in the distance.

The staff at TRYP are nice and very accommodating. We tried checking in as early as 11 a.m., and thankfully, we were able to access our room without much hassle. We also requested extra coffee pods and a blanket, and they accommodated our requests without any issues.

The scent of the sea outside doesn’t smell pleasant at times, but thankfully, the smell doesn’t get inside the room, so it was fine. Their parking area can get full sometimes, but they offer valet service for P150.

For breakfast, there’s an additional P800 per head, but we usually prefer taking a morning walk and ordering from nearby Jollibee, Burger King, or Tokyo Tokyo, which are already open early in the morning.

We’d love to get the same room in the future—maybe when we join fun runs near the Mall of Asia, or on days when we need to stay within the Manila vicinity.
