This year, we went to complete our Stations of the Cross inside the Ateneo University grounds. We went to the church (called The Church of the Gesù) to celebrate Sunday mass a few weeks before and I saw the purple banners and the crosses with the station numbers so I thought it will be nice to spend Holy Friday to pray here.

We went as early as around 8AM, we had breakfast in Jollibee just across the University, and I was correct. It was peaceful, quiet, and there’s still a cool breeze since it’s still early. The gaps in between the stations were a bit lengthy compared to the church where we used to do the stations but the nice brick pavement made walking easier. And sabi ko penitensya ko na din to.

I had lots of things to pray for this Holy Week. Repentance is the main thing that I think good Christians should do during this celebration, but as usual when I pray, madalas mas marami pang hingi or requests from the Lord instead of repentance. But I prayed today that this war in Iran stop already, and then so many other personal stuff. I am grateful that I have this opportunity to spend Holy Week with my family, the hot weather is bearable and we still have gasoline to use.

Many people I know these days, most of them are in the beach, or in vacation. There were years when ganoon din kami. We can’t judge people on what they do during Holy Week. For me what’s important is not to forget the Lord wherever you are, Holy Week or not.
