Watching At The Cinema – After 2 Years In Pandemic

One thing we missed the most in this pandemic is watching movies in the cinema. I remember before all these happened, our last visit to the theater was when we watched at the Director’s Club in SM Fairview. We’ve watched Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker with my dad and mom-in-law. It was the last movie we’ve watched together as mom already passed away last year. Thinking about it makes me hope that Mom loved our bonding moment together that day and was thankful at the same time that we get to experience it together with my kids.

Skipped to this year when finally we were allowed to see the movies again in this same theater. It was of course sad that we won’t be seeing movies again with mom but still grateful that we are all here surviving the pandemic and got the chance Spiderman: No Way Home.

View some clips here from the cinema:

Since we are still not a hundred percent (will we ever be?) free from COVID, there were restrictions in the cinema. Only fully vaccinated persons are allowed inside. Good thing ticket prices were the same. We were one-seat-apart from each other and no food are allowed to be brought inside. But we were able to bring our own water jugs. We also had to keep our face masks on while inside the cinema although there were no security guards who roamed around to check us. I guess it’s up to you if you want to remove it. Although we find it uncomfortable to watch while we had our masks on, we still put them on just to be safe.

Spiderman: No Way Home Review

I give it 4 out 5 stars and I recommend that you watch it with your family, most especially if you are a Marvel fan. The action stunts were good, of course the cinematic effects were amazing, though 1 less star for the storyline. It’s because I found the plot too shallow but maybe because I am thinking too much of it, from a parent’s point of view. I am assuming that when you read this you already know the greatest spoiler of all that previous Spiderman heroes and villains were there and it was the first time we’ve watched something like that. And that was super cool. Andrew Garfield for me is the most handsome while Tobey Maguire is really a good actor. It turned out that this movie is kind of a prequel to an upcoming Doctor Strange’s movie (another Marvel movie) and so another yey for that!

Watching in the cinema this early on gave us something to look forward to despite the restrictions. Kudos to SM Cinema theater for making us feel secured while we were inside, the theater was clean and I’ve read in their website that they do deep-clean the cinema every week. After watching the movie, each of us got caramel popcorn freebies waiting for us outside the cinema. Kudos also to other movie goers who followed the (one-seat-apart) rules.

As of writing, waiting to book Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg’s upcoming Uncharted movie in the cinema coming this end of Feb 2022. Love the plot ala Tomb Raider of this game in PS4 and the preview of the film looks very promising.

What about you, do you love watching movies in the cinema? What’s your latest film recommendation and what are you excited to watch soon?
