When Your Biological Age Is Older Than Your Real Age

Have you noticed how fast time flies? If you haven’t, it’s either you are living a perfect life without the need to hurry about anything, or you are already lying six feet under (kidding). This is the way I feel almost daily and it’s quite depressing sometimes. But you know what’s the worst thing I found out? It is that my body is aging faster than my real age.

BIA - Bio-Electrical Impedance Analysis is a method of assessing the body composition, the measurement of body fat in relation to lean body mass. Once in a while, have your body analyzed so you'll know how your body ages compared to your real age.

I found out all these when Anlene sent me an invitation to an intimate event where important information about premature aging was discussed. I’m glad I accepted because even though I found out through the biometrics machine that my biological age is a decade older than my real age, at least it warned me to act about it already.

Anlene event - discussion about premature ageing, what it does to our body, and how drinking milk such as Anlene, proper nutrition and exercise can help us slow down body ageing.

Why should we care if we are aging? They say that most Filipinos don’t care about how old they are. They say that what’s important is that you live your life to the fullest. But if we come to think of it, we really can’t live our lives to the fullest if we are not in our fittest form. And aging is one of the fastest way for our bodies to deteriorate. Premature ageing is oftentimes the underlying cause of exhaustion, affecting energy levels, productivity and the ability to do things you enjoy.

And when we age, our metabolic rate slows down also which is why it is so much harder to go on a diet or lose weight when you get older. You know what happens when you get overweight – you face the risk of having those non-communicable diseases such as diabetes and heart problems.

Why do we age faster ? There are many factors, some are not controllable like changing times and the socioeconomic situation as they call it. Just like what I mentioned initially, we are always in a hurry so we tend to skip meals, eat more often on fast fast food joints, skip exercise and prefer to ride vehicles rather than walking. And we can still blame ourselves partially for the unhealthy choices we make when it comes to food and hobbies (smoking and drinking are always mentioned to cut a person’s life for a huge percentage).

How important is good nutrition if we want our bodies to live younger? We need enough calcium and protein daily so that our bodies stay active and to keep up with all our daily task, so that we won’t easily get tired and get sick.

Fely Velandria, Senior Science Research Specialist, FNRI DOST shared valuable info about premature aging and I’ve taken down notes of some of them:

  • Don’t neglect sleep.
  • Don’t sit for a long time. Sitting is the new smoking
  • Exercise at least 30 minutes a day.
  • Eat more vegetables and protein from milk for muscle mass
  • Younger people need more calcium than older ones.
  • We should intake 700-750 mg calcium daily
  • Calcium in milk is the best form because the body can best absorbed calcium thru milk than thru vegetables

That is how Anlene can help us.

For almost 30 years, Anlene has championed healthy ageing among adults of all ages. Anlene offers a range of milk products that strengthen bones, joints, and muscles to enable movement that’s critical to healthy ageing. Each glass of Anlene provides you with:

  • Twice the calcium of regular milk and 100% of an adult’s daily calcium needs –
  • High protein for muscle development
  • Collagen, unlike other milk brands (this is a wow factor for me because collagen in other beauty products are expensive)

Many Filipinos don’t drink milk that much and that includes so this is one area that I really need to improve. Good thing Anlene tastes so good. Anlene white coffee is new and I instantly liked it when I tried it at the event. Anlene also has vanilla and chocolate variants (liquid in tetra paks and powder sachets and bigger pouches)

The moment I heard my biological age, it became a wake up call to me because I really want to live longer for my family and I want to do so much more in my life. If drinking Anlene daily will improve my health so that I become younger than my real age, avoid sickness and be energetic everyday, so be it. Anlene tastes so good so it will really be a delightful treat for me.

As of now, aside from drinking Anlene, I am also trying to lose weight, at least the weight that the dietitian told me to lose so I can achieve the weight that is expected of my age, body weight and height. Unlike before when my priority is for my body to look good, my priority is really to be healthy and to live longer for my loved ones. This time I am determined because I think I have the right reasons already.

I hope you find your reasons to live longer and younger as well because you know that you deserve it.

Where to buy Anlene? It is available in Lazada, all leading supermarkets, groceries, drugstores and convenience stores nationwide. To learn more about Anlene, visit www.anlene.com.ph
