Food and gaming are two special things that we enjoy a lot whether we are at home or outside. Because my husband and I are both kids are at heart, we feel this connection with them when we eat out and then go to arcades or to toy stores.  Because we love both food and games, we even love them when they are combined – via games that involve cooking or playing with food.

Fun Cooking And Food Games For Kids

Do you remember Fruit Ninja? We used to love to play that game a lot when the girls were just toddlers, when our iPad was still functional.  You know how little kids love these kinds of chaotic games when they are allowed to just click and slash and giggle.

We also love Diner Dash, the restaurant time management video game we used to play using PC. We can relate on this game a lot that we talk about it whenever when we are in a restaurant and the waiters are such in frenzy serving customers. We imagine ourselves as like the people in Diner Dash slowly losing our customer hearts.

Now that the kids are older and have more time to spend at home, they get a lot of school breaks these days you know, we play Overcooked on PS4 usually on weekends. It’s a fun game to play because everyone in the family can get to choose a cute character and cooperate ( or not ) with each other to finish a level.  It’s a time and role-management game type that can be really addicting.

When we are not at home, there’s this one website that the three of us indulge in a lot. This website that offers over a 150 free online kids cooking games is just so much fun that usually, we can spend our traveling time playing the games there. I’m happy to indulge them with some screen time for this as the website familiarizes children with food, farming, cooking, the culinary arts, the restaurant business and hospitality-related careers. It’s both fun and very educational.

There are no advertisements that annoyingly pop up while you play and the games play seamlessly.  Each game opens on its own tab unlike in other website which offer free games when you can easily get log with all these games flooding a single page.

Check out some of our favorite cooking and food games in this video:

Cut Fruit is a tap fruit slicing game where you chop as many fruits as you can without hitting a bomb. It’s like Fruit Ninja totally!

Bunnicula’s Kaotic Kitchen is a simple recipe making game where children help Bunnicula cook up unique dishes. It’s so colorful and we have fun cooking the creepy recipes in the game. It actually helps instill the fun in cooking for my kids and I notice that they tend to be more helpful in the kitchen after we play these kinds of games, really!

Coffee Shop is a simulation game where you see how much money you can help Cafe Calypso earn in a month. It’s a bit complicated for younger kids but for older kids, it’s helpful in teaching them planning skills, math and the sense of accomplishment when the business gets to be successful.

Penguin Cafe is a lot like similar to Diner Dash where you have to play as a penguin on skates rushing around to serve guests and meet the daily goal. While the aesthetics in this game are cartoony the difficulty level increases quickly after the first couple levels. This game is also a great way to remind us how customer gratuity makes up an important portion of a waiter’s livelihood.

With the recent Covid-19 outbreak many people in the hospitality industry have lost their jobs. Many of these workers are paid below minimum wage and rely on tips to make a living. It’s nice that there are websites like this that remind us on how we can be of help to others by giving generously to those who deserve it when we dine out in restaurants or even if we order for food to be delivered at home.
