Silent Clubbing At SM Fairview – A Different Kind Of Music Party

Posted on Jun 11 2018 - 6:35am by tweenselmom

Just this first day of June, SM Fairview let us into a different kind of music party where music was loud but the room was silent. How was that possible? It was what they called silent clubbing. I first heard of this kind of gig happening in the US where even kids have their own silent clubbing parties. I imagined how cooler can that be specially if the party goers were noisy toddlers?

But what we attended at SM Fairview wasn’t like that. “On The Beat” was a special event held by SM Fairview for its shoppers where for every P1,000 inside the mall, they can already get tickets to the event. There were 3-1-hour sessions that started 6pm, a 1 hour break, then 8 and 10 pm slots.

3 great DJ’s (disc jockeys) were present on the event and even though I haven’t seen them before, I am pretty certain they are among the best DJ’s in town. They all looked great and we loved the music they mixed.

Silent Clubbing

In the event, each of us were given our own headphones which is kind of special because it has buttons for you to be able to choose your “jam”. Each channel is connected to the music mixes by each of the DJ on stage. Each station has its color code (blue, green, red) and you won’t hear anything else but the music from your headphone as soon you as turn it on. Everyone on the area listened to their music, while the 3 DJs were busy mixing on  stage, while everyone outside the venue didn’t hear a thing. Everyone was partying already without disrupting anyone nor making any noise.

The area provided for the event was huge and we were free to stand up and dance while listening. Though most people that time were satisfied with just sitting on the carpeted floor complete with throw pillows, still, the event turned out to be fun! I had a great time listening to the music that the girls were listening. For an hour of silent clubbing, I felt that youthful energy which I miss these days.

I commend SM for investing in these kinds of events. It was a risky move spending  on this kind of activity which is not too popular. Goes to show that SM just wants to give the shoppers a fun experience as they go to the mall. And it’s just half of the year! I’m excited of what more SM will be giving away and the events that it will be hosting for us mall goers. More fun and more bonding time for us.
