My daughters and I had a blast last week when we joined the Shakey’s Junior Pizza Master pizza making mini-workshop. It was held on a weekend so it was also a chance for the three of us to be together, relax and do something fun. We love Shakey’s soft and warm pizza and in this workshop, we got to experience how to make their pizza. The workshop was short but the organizers were able to squeeze in several activities to make the workshop more exciting.
The workshop was like a mini-birthday party program were the kids played games such as Bring Me and Trivia questions about Shakey’s history. The parents also got to play together. Though we were a small group, the games were fun and helped us and the kids be more comfortable working together before the actual workshop.
Our workshop master that day was none other Shakey’s head pizza chef. The ingredients were all ready on our tables and what we needed to do was to imitate how the chef will make his pizza. It was easy as 1-2-3 because we didn’t have to do the dough anymore. We’ve attended a bread making workshop years before and making the dough is difficult and can take so much of our time. We topped our pizza with the pizza sauce and then cheese, pineapple and ham – Hawaiian Pizza ! In just a few minutes, we were done with our pizza! We put our name flags on each of our pizza and after waiting for a 15 minutes or so, Shakey’s gave the pizza we made for us to taste and enjoy.
Our finished products Hawaiian Pizza tasted perfect, no kidding. The dough was warm, moist and perfectly salty to my taste. And the pineapples and ham were fresh, I could taste from the sweetness. The kids enjoyed their slices too and we kept some for take-out so Daddy could also taste what we made.
The program wouldn’t be complete without the mascot and not for long, Captain Shakey’s showed himself and did a dance number. It was fun seeing Captain Shakey’s and his moves on the dance floor! Afterwards, Shakey’s issued the kids their workshop certificates and then photos with Captain Shakeys, the staff, and the rest of the workshop attendees.
Shakey’s Junior Pizza Master was a city-wide activity where several Shakey’s branches held the event on the same day. It was the perfect activity for Shakey’s fans for the kids to appreciate how pizza are made and how good the quality of Shakey’s pizza and their ingredients are. Throughout time, Shakey’s has developed and offered mouth-watering pizzas and we are glad to be a part of this workshop.
